White til, known universally as white sesame seeds (Sesamum indicum), is one of the most beloved, globally utilized oilseeds in culinary history. While black sesame seeds retain their thick, dark, rustic outer hulls, white sesame seeds have typically had their hulls gently removed (hulled) or are naturally lighter-colored varieties. This processing gives them a beautifully uniform, pearly-white or cream appearance, a softer texture, and a far more delicate, milky sweetness compared to their bolder black counterpart.
